One voter at a time. Volunteers with our Benton County Democrats Neighborhood Leader Program connect with registered Democratic voters in their own neighborhoods, building better turnout with a personal touch.

By mailing personalized slate cards and building connections with our neighbors, we average a 20% increase in Democratic voter turnout in our covered neighborhoods!  Even in our world, which is so influenced by social media and other new technologies, no other method comes close to effectiveness in getting out the vote.

That’s how Democrats win: with an outreach operation that works block-by-block, door-by-door, neighbor-to-neighbor, person-to-person.

We’re helping build grassroots support for Democratic values and candidates by engaging with our neighbors with a list of all the endorsed candidates and ballot measures to encourage full-ticket voting. We don’t try to convince voters how to vote, we just want to remind them TO vote!  We provide training, support, and all the materials you’ll need to talk to Democratic-friendly voters.

With our new Covid-19 restrictions the program has been modified to protect everyone’s safety.

How does it work?

  1. Your “Turf”: NLs are assigned 35-40 homes to contact before an election. These will be in your own neighborhood whenever possible.
  2. Training: Before an election,  training sessions are offered via Zoom.
  3. In normal times the goal is to interact with each voter directly and make sure they have everything they need to vote in the coming election. With this election, November 2020, we are personalizing slate cards, which provide all of our endorsed candidates and ballot measures. They can be mailed or dropped on doorsteps without knocking.  You may then, at your discretion, follow-up with any voters who have not voted to see if they have questions or need help delivering their ballot.
  4. Enter Your Results: NLs enter the results of voter encounters on the NLP Service website online.  You are also given feedback as to when your voters ballot has been received.  Those come with gold stars!
