Deadlines
- New Registrations must be postmarked or submitted online 21 days before Election Day – for the May 19, 2020 primary election, the deadline is April 28, 2020 (submit the online form before 11:59PM).
- Party changes must be received at the Elections office 21 days before Election Day.
- Address changes for voters who are already registered in Oregon can be made up until polls close on Election Day—although we don’t recommend cutting it that close. If you haven’t received your ballot and believe that your registration may be out of date, contact your county elections office. In Benton County you can call: 541-766-6756
Can I vote in the Democratic primary?
In Oregon, only registered Democrats may vote in the Democratic primary. If you would like to change your registration to the Democratic Party, you can update your voter registration online (it’s the same process as filling out a new registration). If you are unsure that you are registered as a Democrat in Oregon, you can check your registration status online.
Am I eligible to vote in Oregon?
You may register to vote in Oregon if:
- You are a resident of Oregon.
- You are a United States citizen.
- You are at least 16 years of age (you will receive ballots for elections that occur after your 18th birthday).
Voting in Oregon
Oregon is a “vote by mail” state. Ballots are all sent through the mail, and are not forwarded. You must be able to receive mail at the mailing address on your registration.
